  • 4 pieces Fresh peaches Ripe, can be substituted with nectarines or apricots.
  • 2 tablespoons Unsalted butter Use unsalted for a balanced flavor.
  • 2 tablespoons Granulated sugar Brown sugar can be used for extra richness.
  • 1 teaspoon Ground cinnamon Consider adding nutmeg or cardamom for variety.
  • 1 tablespoon Fresh lemon juice A splash of orange juice can substitute if needed.

Preparation

  • Wash the peaches under cool water to remove any fuzz. Slice them in half and gently remove the pit.

Cooking

  • Heat a skillet over medium heat and add a generous pat of unsalted butter.
  • Add the peach halves cut-side down into the skillet and cook for about 3 to 4 minutes until caramelized.
  • Flip the peach halves and sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon. Cook for an additional 2 to 3 minutes.
  • Squeeze lemon juice over the peaches and cook for one more minute.

Serving

  • Serve hot, optionally with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or on top of yogurt.

Notes

Leftover peaches can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 2 to 3 days. For freezing, lay them flat on a baking sheet before transferring to a freezer bag.
